We’ve been getting some questions about where Longaberger pottery is made. Well, up until about the middle of 2005 all Longaberger pottery was made in the USA. 2005 was the transition year when Longaberger started to outsource their pottery production to companies in China. Even some of the Collectors Club pieces were produced in China for a short time until enough members complained about paying the price for exclusive pieces only to find out that they weren’t made in the US. The company did listen and brought the CC pieces back for production in the states.
We know that many of you only want the pieces that were made in the US for your collection. And since some of Longaberger’s retired pieces, such as the Cookie Jar, 3 Quart Roaster and others, were offered again in 2007 and produced in China, the best way to tell if a piece is US made is to check the bottom. If there is no “Made in USA” or “Made in East Liverpool, Ohio” or “Roseville” marking, it is most likely a piece made in China.
There are other “guides” out on the web that would lead many to believe that all of the Longaberger pottery pieces that were (and are) made in China will have a sticker on them. The problem with this is that over time the stickers will wash off or may be intentionally removed. So again, the best way to tell the origin of your piece is to simply turn it over and let the markings tell you where it was made.
